Akia Review

Voice, pricing, and alternatives.

Written by Punn Kam, ex-Google AI engineer and Y Combinator repeat founder. He is the co-founder of Conduit, an AI agent platform built for hospitality, serving 300+ hospitality brands in 140+ languages. Last updated August 25, 2026.

Akia is a hotel guest-experience platform whose AI answers both the messaging thread and the phone. Akia states that AI Voice is the same agent as its messaging product, that it picks up inbound calls, resolves them, and can take payment before hanging up. It publishes no list pricing. It is hotel-first, which is where it is strongest and where its limits show.

What is Akia?

Akia sells an AI agent for hospitality plus the guest-journey modules around it. Its published product list includes Guest Messaging, AI Voice, Skills, Mini Apps, Digital Check-in, Guidebooks, Upsells, Ask Akia, and a Marketing Suite. It says it is used by more than 2,000 hospitality operators.

Two things separate it from most of this category. The first is that voice is a real agent rather than a message-taker: Akia's own description is that AI Voice "answers the phone, books the room, sells the upgrade, and takes the payment on the call". The second is that Akia says it is the same agent that runs guest messaging, "engineered to speak", rather than a separate voice product bolted alongside a chat product.

It also ships a VoIP Dialer for staff, which is a different thing from the AI agent: calls, texts, and voicemails land in one guest profile so the front desk can work from a single thread.

How much does Akia cost?

Akia does not publish list pricing. There is a pricing page in its navigation, but no rates are shown. You have to talk to sales.

For context on who does publish: Visito starts at $99/month, Jurny publishes $19 per unit with a $400 monthly minimum, and Conduit publishes $18 per unit per month for Messaging rising to $48 for Full Suite. HelloShift, Asksuite, Bookboost, Operto, and Hostaway publish nothing either, so Akia is the norm here rather than the exception.

What is Akia good at?

  • Voice that resolves rather than records. Most of this category either has no phone product or treats voice as a separate layer. Akia's is an agent, and it is the differentiator worth testing.
  • Hotel PMS coverage. Akia names Oracle Opera, Mews, Cloudbeds, Apaleo, StayNTouch, Infor HMS, Maestro, Clock PMS, and SkyTouch, alongside STR systems including Guesty, Hostaway, Hospitable, OwnerRez, Escapia, Hostfully, Streamline, and WebRezPro.
  • The journey modules. Digital check-in, guidebooks, and upsells sit next to the agent rather than needing a second vendor.
  • One guest profile. Text, calls, and voicemails in one place is a real front-desk win.

Where does Akia fall short?

  • No published pricing. There is a pricing page in the navigation with no rates on it.
  • Hotel-weighted. The PMS list leans hotel. If your inventory lives on Airbnb and VRBO, check the OTA inbox and the write path specifically rather than assuming the integration count covers it.
  • Nothing published on automation rate, implementation time, or compliance. The marketing is confident; the checkable numbers are not on the site.
  • Portfolio controls are not described publicly. If you run several brands or buildings and need one configuration reused with local exceptions, ask exactly how that is modelled.

Who should pick something else?

If you are a single independent hotel that wants an agent on the phone and the thread, Akia is a strong shortlist entry and you should demo it.

Look elsewhere in three cases. If your inventory is short-term rentals living in the Airbnb and VRBO inboxes, the OTA-native tools fit better. If your problem is direct-booking conversion on the website before a reservation exists, Asksuite is built for that stage. And if you are rolling one agent across many properties or brands, ask every vendor including Akia to show the brand layer and the property layer, because that is the thing that decides whether the eleventh property is a configuration or a rebuild.

What are the best Akia alternatives?

Akia's actual shape is voice plus text on one agent, so proximity to that is the order below.

ToolVoice + text on one agentBest forPublished pricing
AkiaYes, Akia's claimHotels wanting one agent on phone and messagingnot published
ConduitYesGroups reusing one agent across properties and OTA inboxes$18/unit/mo Messaging, up to $48 Full Suite
HelloShiftYes, AI handles calls and chatsHotels that also want staff coordination and housekeepingnot published
Canary TechnologiesVoice shipped alongside messagingCheck-in, authorizations, and upsell as one suitenot published
HiJiffyNo, chat-firstMultilingual website and OTA conciergenot published
AsksuiteNoDirect-booking conversion before the staynot published
DuveNo voice productGuest app and pre-arrival journeynot published

Where we differ, stated fairly: Akia and Conduit are the two closest on voice, and Akia is a credible competitor there. Conduit's case is the OTA inbox (Airbnb and VRBO alongside voice, SMS, and WhatsApp), PMS write-back across every connected system, and a brand-over-property layer for portfolio rollout. Our hardest published number is Cash Flow Street, a 35-property manager at 96% automation, up from 80% at launch, with the platform band at 70-90%. Watch-out: for a single small property that only wants a stay guide, it is more than you need.

The same field compared by format: hotels, short-term rentals, aparthotels.

FAQ

Does Akia have a real AI voice agent?

Yes. Akia states that AI Voice answers inbound calls, holds a conversation, resolves the request, and can take payment on the call, and that it is the same agent as its messaging product rather than a separate voice layer.

How much does Akia cost?

Akia does not publish list pricing. Its site has a pricing page in the navigation but shows no rates, so cost comes from a sales conversation.

Is Akia better for hotels or short-term rentals?

Hotels. Its named PMS list is hotel-weighted, though it does list several STR systems. If your inventory is on Airbnb and VRBO, verify the OTA inbox and write-back before shortlisting.

What is the difference between Akia's AI Voice and its Dialer?

AI Voice is the autonomous agent that answers guests. The Dialer is a VoIP feature for staff, which puts calls, texts, and voicemails into one guest profile. They solve different problems.

What is the best alternative to Akia?

It depends on the gap. Conduit if you need the OTA inbox and a portfolio rollout alongside voice. HelloShift if staff coordination matters as much as guest messaging. Asksuite if the real problem is booking conversion rather than in-stay service.
